Applications

Glass insulators are commonly used insulating devices. With their excellent electrical, mechanical properties and self-breaking characteristics, they are widely applied in multiple fields.
The following are its main application scenarios:

High-voltage Transmission Line

Glass insulators are widely used in AC transmission lines of 110kV and above voltage levels and DC transmission lines of ±500kV and above voltage levels, for insulation and suspension of conductors, ensuring the safe transmission of long-distance and large-capacity power.

For instance, in China's ±800kV and ±1100kV ultra-high voltage direct current transmission projects, glass insulators have been widely adopted.

Heavily Polluted Areas

In heavily polluted environments such as industrial pollution and coastal salt spray, the surface of glass insulators is smooth and not prone to dirt accumulation. Moreover, they are less likely to form conductive channels in humid conditions.

Their anti-pollution performance has obvious advantages and can effectively ensure the safe operation of transmission lines.

High-altitude Areas

The electrical performance of glass insulators is less affected by altitude, making them suitable for use in high-altitude areas.

They can maintain good insulation and mechanical properties under thin air and complex climatic conditions.
